we can communicate visually with gestures, facial expressions, clothes we choose to wear. visual communication can also be established by painting what we believe in, our source of joy and preoccupation. the choice of colours, the subject, the way paint is applied... its another language!

conservation (restoration) of canvas paintings is a practice that safeguards the integrity of paintings in order to preserve them for future generations. conservators can analyse how paintings were done by the artist, mainly by scientific analysis. the condition of paintings and previous restoration treatments are also assessed and documented. paintings can also be studied in situ to isolate them from the damaging factors (referred to as preventive conservation). damaged paintings can also be treated following strict conservation ethics. in a nutshell, the main aim consists in reducing the paintings' deterioration rate. read more...
